MOPS International
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom – urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms – moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.
For over 35 years, MOPS International has come alongside mothers of preschoolers during a challenging season to encourage, equip and develop them as women, mothers and leaders. MOPS International is a trusted resource with a reputation of consistency, growth and expertise in early mothering. Other organizations focus on making a better world for their children. At MOPS International, we focus on making better moms. We meet the needs of mothers, because when we impact a mom we impact a child and ultimately our world.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today’s mother of young children.
Hutchinson MOPS
Like MOPS International, the local group of Hutchinson MOPS believes that better moms make better children, better children make a better community, and a better community makes a better world. The local group is organized and run by moms for moms. The steering committee consists of those who step into leadership roles because they believe in the importance of encouraging, equipping and developing mothers of preschoolers.
In Hutchinson, the needs of mothers are primarily met through local meetings. The Hutchinson MOPS group meets twice a month, from Sept. thru May, from 9am to 11am. at the First Church of the Nazarene, beginning Sept. 16th. Childcare is provided in a Sunday school type setting (bible story, craft, snacks, playtime) so moms can be nurtured without distraction. Meetings usually consist of a time of informal conversation with snacks, a speaker who covers topics dealing with the physical, emotional, or spiritual health of the mothers, their children and their families, a structured discussion group and a creative activity. For more information on MOPS please go to www.mops.org.
MOPS International requires a $23.95 enrollment fee, which provides you with MOPS to Mom Connection Benefits. Ongoing annual benefits include: weekly Mom e-mails, bi-monthly MOMSense magazine, and more. Dues will be $20 (fall semester) and $20 (spring semester), regardless of the number of children you have enrolled in MOPPETS (the children’s program). We want every mom to be able to receive the benefits that MOPS has to offer. If you plan to attend this year, please mail your completed registration form along with a check for $23.95 (payable to First Church of the Nazarene) by August 15th to Elissa Unruh 1908 James St., Hutchinson, KS 67502. This way we will know how many moms and children to plan for. If you would like to be considered for financial assistance, please call me at 662-6432. The information will be kept confidential.
Thank you for your interest in and support of MOPS. I believe MOPS meets the needs of many mothers who may not get this type of support elsewhere. We ask for your prayers and support as we begin our new year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 662-6432 or e-mail at unruh4@sbcglobal.net I look forward to hearing from you!
